Governor Badaru Presents Over N177bn 2022 Budget Estimate

Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state has presented the sum of over 177 billion naira appropriation bill to the state house of assembly for the 2022 fiscal year.

Presenting the bill, tagged as Budget of consolidation for sustainable socio-economic development, the Governor said, this succeeds the 2021 budget and would contribute to the government’s next level agenda

According to him, the budget surpassed the 2021 budget by about 13.5 percent or about 21.2 billion naira.

Badaru Abubakar explained that, over 83 billion naira was earmarked for recurrent expenditure while capital investments amounted to the sum of over 91 billion naira.

He said contingency and stabilization funds got the sum of over 3.5 billion naira.

Alhaji Badaru Abubakar pointed out that, almost 85.88 billion naira goes to the two key human and health sectors, thus accounting for over 48 percent of the total proposed budget.

He noted that, 57.18 billion naira representing about 32 percent of the total budget which exceeds UNESCO’s education for all prescription of 26 percent allocation to education.

The Governor added that, health sector received 28.7 billion naira slightly over 16 per cent of of the total proposed budget.

In a Speech, the Speaker of the jigawa state house of assembly, Alhaji Idris Garba assured that legislators would pass the budget into law within stipulated time.
