Kwara State Flags Off Disbursement Of Loans To 30,000 Beneficiaries

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has flagged -off the disbursement of non-interest loans to another round of 30,000 beneficiaries of the state social investment programme .

Speaking during the ceremony at the Stadium complex Ilorin, Govenor AbdulRazq said from 2020 till date the state government had disbursed soft loans to 60,000 beneficiaries.

According to him the initiative attests to the administration’s policy of gender inclusion, women empowerment, and poverty alleviation.

The governor explained that the scheme, which comes in four categories, was designed to fight extreme poverty and stimulate small businesses by providing beneficiaries with interest-free loans.

AbdulRazaq noted that the “Owo Arugbo component” which had some 10,000 beneficiaries across the state was aimed to support the elderly and the weak .

He maintained that the programmes would lift people from extreme poverty.

AbdulRazq assured the people of the state that his administration would continue to support the downtrodden, poor and vulnerable with opportunities, financial support and capacity building programmes.

In his address the Acting General Manager Kwara State Social Investment Programme Mohammed Brimah, said the disbursement were for known beneficiaries captured and screened by the scheme with new secured features introduced to make it the best across the country.

In their separate remarks the Iyaloja-General and Babaloja-General of Kwara State Hajia Sidikat Akaje and Alhaji AbdulRahman Sa’ad commended the state government for it’s various interventions aimed at making life better for residents of the state.
