10 Million Pupils Benefits from School Feeding Program – Minister

The federal government says the school feeding program has recorded great success from inception to date

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and disaster management, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruk, stated this during a workshop organized by the ministry for the officials of the program in the northern states of Nigeria, held in Kano.

She said that under the program Over 10 million primary 1 to 3 pupils across the country have benefitted from the program, saying it was initiated by the administration of President of Muhammad Buhari in 2016.

The Minister who was represented by the Special adviser to the President on the affairs of the ministry Dr. Mohammed Nasiru Mahmoud said e program was created to encourage parents to send their children to school and address malnutrition problems and reduce the responsibility of the parents.

“more than ten million pupils are being fed in all the primary schools in the country, the National Statistics Agency has confirmed that the number of students is increasing on daily basis “

Sadiya Umar Faruk maintained that the workshop would prepare the officials on how to achieve effective service delivery.

In his speech, the focal Person in charge of humanitarian and support programs in Kano State, Alhaji Baba Aminu Zubair, said that in Kano State, more than 1 million, are being fed in public primary schools in Kano.

He added that the Kano state government program of free and compulsory education has contributed immensely to ensuring an increase in pupils’ enrollment in schools
