Kaduna State Government has called for a consensus between the federal government and the 36 states on the emergency programme for the recruitment of security personnel at least one thousand in each local government in the country.

Governor, Malam Nasiru Elrufai made the call while receiving security situation report of kaduna state for the third Quarter of this year.

Malam Nasiru Elrufai noted that, government can change the game of insecurity significantly by hiring one thousand willing youths from each of the 774 local government areas of the country into the various security agencies.

He explained that, addition of 774 new personnel in various security agencies would be a significant blow against criminals and create employment opportunities.

“This will be a surge in numbers that is unprecedented since the civil war. An influx of 774,000 new boots on the ground will be a significant blow against criminals and an employment boost”

The Governor appealed to residents of kaduna state to remain law abiding and to uphold peace in their communities.

He offered state government’s sympathy for all the pains and sorrow insecurity had caused despite consistent efforts and investment to address the problem.

Malam Nasiru Elrufai assured the people of Kaduna State that, government was working hard to solve the problem, he however offered condolences to security agencies and families of officers and men killed while trying to keep the people of the state safe.

Governor Elrufai maintained that, the report for the third Quarter indicated that, southern Kaduna senatorial district had the highest casualties in the period.

This according to him, reflects banditry and continued violence clashes between communities in Zanfon Kataf, Kaura and Kauru local government areas.

He called on all the communities in Zangon Kataf local government to recommit to peace and work together to promote harmony and uphold the rule of law.

According to him, the security operations which began in this third quarter are degrading bandits but there not yet simultaneously across all the affected states in the North West region.

While presenting the security situation in Kaduna State for the third Quarter, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan said 2553 people had been kidnapped in different parts of the state from January to date this Year.

Mr Aruwan also said12860 Animals were rustled while the deaths linked to banditry and violent attacks were 888 from January to dates.

According to him, security operatives confronting bandits in different locations in Kaduna have successfully neutralized two hundred and twenty bandits from January to date and still counting.

He also stated that, within third Quarter of this year, the security report presented before the governor said it covers banditry, kidnapping, rape, cattle rustling, attacks and reprisal attacks and also contained statistics of fatalities resulting from the incidences, excluding deaths from homicide and accidents among others.

He further revealed that, report eight hundred and thirty persons were kidnapped within the third quarter of this year while 343 person died due to banditry, communal clashes, violent attacks and reprisal across the State within the three months of third Quarter.

Mr Aruwan further stated that, 210 citizens were injured across the State due to various incidences such as communal clashes, banditry attacks, reprisal among others while the number of Animals rustled were 1018.

Within the third Quarter of this year in Kaduna State, a total of 69 bandits were neutralized during engagement with ground forces such as Military and Police in the state in various locations, stressing that, gunrunners were also intercepted and arrested with with different arms.

1080 animals were rustled in the state in the third quarter.

He said southern part of the state had the highest record of deaths especially Zangon Kataf due to communal clashes

Members of the national Assembly from Kaduna State, traditional rulers, security agencies and other members of the public attended the meeting.
