NSCDC Seeks. Increased Media Collaboration Against Vandalism

Borno state Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC Mr Musa Farouq has called for the support of media in tackling incessant vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure.

Mr Farouq made the call during a visit to the leadership of Nigeria Union Journalists at NUJ Secretariat Maiduguri. 

The Commandant decried the level of vandalism of critical infrastructure which plunged most parts of the state into darkness for nearly ten months. 

He explained that the federal and Borno state government have invested huge resources in the provision of networks of roads, drainages, railway, power installations but are being vandalised by some unpatriotic people. 

Mr Farouq Musa added that as a Service with the core mandate of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, it is committed to providing surveillance to the facilities. 

“This is not however without challenges, we cannot do it all. That is why we crave for synergy and collaboration with the NUJ and Correspondents’ chapel. This crusade cannot be ours alone, the Commandant stressed “.

Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists Borno state council comrade Bulama Talba appreciate Civil Defence Corps for maintaining better working relationship with media in the state.

He assured that journalists will support the Command in its crusade against vandalism of critical infrastructure.
