Kano state government had reiterated its commitment to upholding the rule of law and legislative financial independence.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje gave the assurance at the inauguration of the Kano state assembly service commission held at Government Kano.

According to him, with the inauguration of the chairman and members of the assembly service commission, the legislature is independent financially and administratively.

Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje described the commission as the back bone responsible for the day to day running of the state assembly.

“I believe you are equal to the task.This is a follow up for the implementation of the legislature in the country,Kano state is not left behind the legislature is independent financially and administratively,we also enjoy good working relationship”

He explained that, the commission is a complete service commission saddled with the responsibilities of carrying out administrative duties including the payment of salaries, allowances, promotions, discipline and whatever operates between the executive and judiciary.

The governor pointed out that the newly inaugurated chairman of the commission has a legislative background and had served as a legislature, chairman and councillor, as the law establishing the commission stipulates that the chairman must have a legislative background.

He charged the newly inaugurated officials to work assiduously to achieve the desired objectives.

“Today a new commission is born with 10 children.According to the law you are coming from different backgrounds,the law says that the chairman must have a social prescription,he must have a connection with the state assembly working as a legislature”

In his acceptance speech, the chairman of the Kano state assembly service commission Alhaji Nasiru Mu’azu Kiru reaffirmed the newly inaugurated official’s readiness to work diligently in discharging their responsibilities.

He commended the state government for finding them worthy and urged members of the Kano state house of assembly to give them the maximum cooperation for the betterment of the state.

I assure you of our commitment and dedication towards our duties and promise to work in synergy with the executive and legislative arm of government to move the state forward”

Radio Nigeria recalled that few months ago,the Kano state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje sent a letter seeking for the approval of the Kano state house of assembly to appoint the chairman and members of the assembly service commission.
