NUC accredits 42 New Post Graduate Courses at Yusuf Maitama Sule University

The Vice Chancellor of Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa says the management of the University has secured the approval of 42 new Postgraduate courses.

Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa stated this during an exclusive interview with Radio Nigeria in Kano.

He said since his assumption in office barely 12 months ago, efforts have been put in place at ensuring full accreditation of all undergraduate courses.

The Vice Chancellor explained that the University have five faculties , which include Basic Science, Faculty of Science, Education, Humanities and Clinical Sciences, comprisingm of thirty three undergraduate courses across the five faculties.

” When I came on board 3 courses out of the 33 undergraduate courses were not Accredited by the Nigerian Universities Commission, the Courses are Basic Physics, Physiology,and Information and Communication Technology,but after revisiting the Areas that needed to be adjusted and with the zeal and Commitment of the leadership of the University the 3 Courses have been graciously Accredited by the Nigerian Universities Commission”

Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa maintained that the University was working assidiously in ensuring that the new Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery course became a success.

“Our MBBS students are now in level two hundred and we are up and doing to ensure that a befitting teaching hospital was made available before the Students reach the Clinical time”

” The University has set up a committee of professianals to advice on the Facility that would be used as teaching hospital for the clinical Research for MBBS students, They’ve recommended Murtala Mohammad Specialist Hospital to serve as the Teaching hospital,We’ve informed his Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and he Assured that all the needed would done”

The Vice Chancellor applauded the efforts of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who is the Visitor of the University for providing infrastructural development in the university , resulting to effective service delivery.

“Currently two Facilities are under Construction, when completed they will Accommodate Faculty of Science and Faculty of Humanities ,each building contains 186 academic Staff offices , 20 laboratories, 20 workshops and three five hundred capacity lecture theatres “

He noted that the University had also secured an intervention from the central Bank of Nigeria for the Construction of students hostels , saying the project was currently in progress.

Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa explained that befitting security Strategies have already been deployed in the two campuses of the university.

“We’ve Strategies modern security outfits in the university,motor cycles and bicycles have been purchased and distributed to our security personnel so that it would ease their movement in all books and crannies of the University”

He appealed to philanthropists to extend their good gestures to the University aimed at uplifting the standard of education in the country.
