Skills Acquisition Pivotal Street Begging Reduction – Hafsat Ganduje

Providing skills acquisition training has been described as an alternative to addressing the menace of street begging in the Kano State.

Wife of the Governor of Kano State, Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje stated this during the graduation ceremony of persons living with Disability held at Dorayi Psychiatric Rehabilitation center Kano.

Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs Dr Zahara’u Mohammad said the menace of street begging was a disturbing issue, hence all necessary measures needed to be deployed in ensuring that the challenge was addressed.

She said Kano state Government was according all the needed support and logistics to people living with disability with aim of making them self relient.

Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje appealed to wealthy individuals to invest in training people living with disability geared towards achieving the set objectives.

In a remark ,the Executive Secretary of Kano State Emergency Management Agency Alhaji Sale Ali Jiki said the 26 people living with disabilities were selected from twenty six local Government, and were trained on various skills.

He said the agency was planning to train another set of people living with disabilities, stressing that the gesture would play a great role in tacling the menace of street begging in Kano state.

Some of the Graduants who spoke to Radio Nigeria applauded the state government efforts in training people living with disability to become self relient.

The ceremony was attended by Government Officials and other Stakeholders.
