Railway: Kano Assembly Investigates Alleged Payment Of Residents Affected By Construction

Kano state house of assembly has constituted a seven man committee to investigate the alleged payment of compensation to those affected by the construction of railway line from Kaduna to kano without proper documentation.

This was sequel to an urgent motion of public importance by a member representing Madobi local government area Isma’il Yusuf Cunkoso supported by the lawmakers during plenary session presided over by the speaker Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari

According to the house,the payment of compensation due to the construction of the railway line is done without documentation as well as the inclusion of some names which are believed to be fraudulent.Saying that the system of payment of compensation to Farmers in respect of their farmlands for the ongoing Federal Government Project of Railway construction need to be highly investigated as the amount being paid to the affected Farmers is grossly below the current farm and land rates.

The lawmakers argued that,some of the residents of the area received one hundred thousand through their bank accounts while others were paid in cash. Stressing that the process contravene the Kano state compensation law.

The house unanimously adopted the motion and constituted a seven man committee including the chairman house standing committee on public complaints,chairman house committee on lands,lawmakers representing Bebeji,Kiru,madobi and Kumbotso local government areas and Ali Maje as secretary.

Similarly,the house has called on the state government to provide poles and installation/connect cables from Jalabi to Waila kofar Arewa in Bunkure local government.

In a motion filed by member representing Bunkure local government area Muhammad Uba Gurjiya who explained that the electric cables were affected by flooding three years ago which led to the damage of all electric poles and connection cables.

After deliberations the house adopted the motion.

In another development the house has recieved a letter from the office of the state governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi,Singa and Galadima market management bill 2021,for necessary action and corrections.
