Jigawa NDLEA Nabs Traditional Leaders, Others For Drug Abuse

The Jigawa state command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA says it has arrested 2 traditional leaders suspected to be drug abusers in the state.

The state Commandant, Hajiya Maryam Sani disclosed this while parading the over 130 suspects at the command headquarters, Dutse.

She said two public servants (Police and Immigration), 2 civil servants were also arrested by the command.

According to her, 137 suspects were arrested after the 2 weeks operation on joints of drug abuse and hideouts across the 27 local government areas of the state.

She explained that the personnel of the NDLEA has burnt down a notorious joint of drug abusers in Kazaure local government area.

She further explained that, the command had succeeded in dislodging the suspected black spots in the areas.

Hajiya Maryam Sani pointed out that, during the raid, 132 males and 2 females were arrested while 25 students of various Institutions were apprehended.

She said some of the seizures made by the personnel include 2.559 kg of psychotropic substances with accumulated grant total of 5.974 kg of various drugs worth millions of naira.

Maryam Sani added that, the counselling unit of the command extracted information from the suspects which will be used to trace and arrest the suspected drug dealers in the state.

The Commandant said some of the suspects were released after they registered for 3 weeks at the counselling unit.

Radio Nigeria reports that, the suspected joints and Black spots were raided in Dutse, Kazaure, Hadejia,Babura,Gumel,Birnin kudu, as well as other local government areas in the state.
