Kebbi: NLC Commends Govt, Private Sector For Employment Despite Pandemic

Kebbi State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, has commended the state government and the private sector for maintaining the workforce without down sizing despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Organised Labour equally commended private sector for providing employment to the teaming populace in the state.

State Chairman of the Organised Labour Congress NLC, Comrade Umar Halidu Alhassan, stated this on the occasion to mark the World Day for Decent Job in Birnin Kebbi.

Comrade Halidu Alhassan, described Decent Work, as job that respect fundamental rights of human person as well as the right of workers interms of condition of work safety and renumiration.

The Chairman noted the contribution of the state government in providing condusive atmosphere for private sector to operate in the state.

He however called on civil servants in the state on the need to be prudent in the discharge of their responsibility.

The State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Sufiyanu Garba Bena, urged civil servants to redidecate themselves to their jobs in order to reposition the government despite the COVID-19 pandemic that affected both government and private sectors globally.

He described this year’s theme “Just Job” as timely saying, Just Job, doesn’t mean replacement but discharging the responsibility attach to the job diligently, efficiently and effectively.

Alhaji Garba Bena, therefore called on civil servants in the state to be alive to their responsibility by reporting to work at 8:00am and close by 4:00pm to justify the salary they earn.

The Kebbi State Governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu, thanked and commended the NLC for organising the event to mark the International Decent Job Day and assured to continue providing a conducive atmosphere for the state civil service and the private sector.
