Kwara: Nurses Granted Study Leave With Pay

Kwara state government says it will revolutionize health care delivery system in the state to make it more effective and efficient.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazq stated this while speaking at this Year’s International Nurses Week Celebrations, organised by the State Council of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives held in Ilorin.

Represented by the State Commisssioner for Health, Dr Raji Razaq, the Governor said welfare of Nurses and other health worker would be given priority.

He said the state government would also consider the granting of health workers study leave with pay to enable them acquire more knowledge to serve the state better.

Governor AbdulRazq explained that the state government would employ more health workers in line with international best practices.

He noted that government would continue to upgrade and provide equipment in health care facilities across the state.

In his paper presentation with the theme-A Voice to lead, The vision for future Health Care; The Guest speaker, Dr. Umar Nda Jubril of the Department of Nursing, University of Ilorin, urged government at all levels to transform the ugly situations in the health sectors.

In his address, the Chairman of the Kwara state Council of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Comrade Aminu Shehu appealed to the state government to ensure Nurses are carried along in decisions that affects them.
