Zamfara State Police Command has arrested a leader of bandits Bello Rugga Malinkara and 21 other suspects.
Parading the suspects at the Command’s Headquarters in Gusau, Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Elkana said, Malinkara alias ‘Bello DanMalinkara’ who was Turji’s (a notorious bandit leader) Commander in charge of Gidan Bita, Malankara and Kagara Forest in Gummi Local Government Area of the state confessed to the crime and was assisting police with useful information.
According to CP Elkana, the Police have also arrested other bandit collaborators including a woman and young men who specialise in supplying food, fuel, drugs, and other logistics to bandits.
He disclosed that Malankara confessed to having been commanding series of attacks/kidnapping operations in Gummi, killing several people and kidnapping many others for ransom.
Malankara also added that many bandits were under his control who operated with AK47 rifles.
