Water Is Life, Desist From Drilling Close To Graveyards- AWDROP Urges Nigerians

Vice President North West of Association of Water, Well Drilling Rig Owners Practitioners (AWDROP), Alhaji Abubakar Musa Machika has advised Nigerians to patronize professionals for quality not quacks.

Alhaji Abubakar Musa Machika gave the advice when he led members of the association to present a communiqué of their national meeting to Kaduna State Water Services Regulatory Commission at their office.

“We have different materials and you cannot get standard borehole without standard casing and standard drills. They go round to speak with five companies to sample price and people need to know the difference between quacks and professionals” He said.

The Vice President North West Zone Alhaji Musa Machika emphasized that water is life and it shouldn’t be compromised by individuals or governments.

He warned people to desist from drilling boreholes close to graveyards, abattoirs, socker ways or culverts to avoid using contaminatated water.

The Vice President North West Zone Alhaji Musa Machika said main reason of the courtesy visit was to intimate the Commission on the outcome of their congress meeting in Ibadan, Oyo state. “We came here to the regulators because we are working together.

In his remark, the Zonal Secretary of AWDROP, Alhaji Hashimu Yahya Maijama’a appealed to the Commission to embark on sensitization campaign to educate the public on dangers of patronizing quacks while drilling boreholes.

He also advised the commission to fully implement the law backing the drilling of boreholes to save the life of people in the state.

Alhaji Hashimu Yahya Maijama’a commended Kaduna State Government for establishing the commission to regulate all issues surrounding water.

” Many people prefer cheap material to quality material, noting that many people would not want to do geophysical survey to pick suitable spot before drilling their borehole”. He said.

Also speaking, the Chairman Kaduna State Chapter of (AWDROP), Hon. Suleiman Tanimu
said the only solution to quackery was for people to go for professionals who would do standard quality job instead of those that would use cheap sub standard materials.

Responding, the Acting Executive Chairman Kaduna State Water Services Regulatory Commission, Barrister Shuaibu Maisamari added that there are rules and regulations guiding the drilling of borehole and people should comply to avoid being sanctioned.
