Covid-19 Recovery : Kwara Present Financial Stimulus To Vulnerable Communities

Kwara state government in partnership with the World Bank have commenced the provision of development projects for selected rural communities through Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Programme .

Speaking during presentation of cheques to five communities’ micro projects approved for funding by the Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency (KWCSDA) in Ilorin, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, said that the intervention demonstrates the state government’s commitment towards alleviating the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on communities and vulnerable groups.

Represented by his deputy, Mr. Kayode Alabi, the governor presented cheques to the first batch of benefiting communities in Asa, Moro, Edu and Offa local government areas for such community projects in areas of sanitation (VIP toilets), water and health.

He said the state government is determined to ensure a positive impact of the developmental initiative.

Governor AbdulRazq said the state government has approved and released the sum of N76 million naira to the State Community and Social Development Agency for the financing of basic service infrastructure .

He urged members of the Community Project Management Committees (CPMCs) to demonstrate the required forthrightness in managing funds released to the benefiting communities.

Govenor AbdulRazq expressed appreciation to the development partners including the Federal Government and the World Bank for the support and sustenance of the programme, adding that the enabling environment and funding will be provided for achieving the programme objectives in Kwara state.

In her remarks, the General Manager Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency KWCSDA NG-CARES, Mrs. Amamat Haruna, noted that the agency is saddled with the responsibility of supporting communities with basic social infrastructure.
