Zamfara Sets Committee For Screening, Verification Of Teachers

Zamfara State Government has set up a committee for the screening and verification of primary school teachers across the state with a view to fish out ghost workers and those without teaching qualification.

The Public Relation Officer of the State Universal Basic Education Board Ismaila Dashi made this known shortly after an emergency meeting with the Executive Chairman of the board and local government education secretaries held in gusau, the state capital.

Ismaila Dashi Said the board had directed all education secretaries in the state to submit the authentic data of their staff both teaching and non teaching with a view to screen them and to come out with genuine list of staff.

According to him , the chairman house committee on education honourable Alhasan Kanoma has been appointed as the chairman of the verification and screening committee.

He therefore urged teachers with genuine complains to immediately forward it to the committee for prompt action noting that those omitted in August salary should also forward their names for payment.

Ismaila Dashi also explained that , the minimum teaching qualification was NCE as required by the Teachers Registration Council.

He said 2019 was the deadline for those without qualification but the board allowed them to update their deficiencies but some couldn’t make it which made the board disengage them from the service.

The Board Public Relation Officer further explained that the board under the leadership of the current executive secretary, Aliyu Abubakar Maradun had constructed over 1500 classes and renovated others as well as construction of 93 modern latrines with 93 boreholes and 93 overhead tanks across the state.

According him, eleven ICT centers were constructed and fully equipped with all the necessary facilities, similarly, teachers have been trained in various capacity in order to meet the present challenges.

He therefore advised teachers to be punctual, dedicated and called on parents to contribute their quota towards the development of education in the state by enrolling their children into schools.
