COVID- 19 Vaccination: Experts Advocate Adequate Enlightenment

Legal, Medical and Media experts have identified adequate enlightenment as key to accepting COVID -19 vaccines by Nigerians.

They stated this during a lecture on the legal challenges associated with the vaccines held in Kaduna State.

Presenting the legal perspective, a human rights activist, Mr. Sunday Akanni said compelling Nigerians to be vaccinated could violate their fundamental rights since consent is required in health care treatment.

In his key note lecture, Professor Istifanus Bala Bosan explained that it was important for individuals to be vaccinated to protect the health of the public at large.

Making his submission at the forum, Dr. Musiliu Odunola dismissed negative reports over the vaccine, saying that it was safe ,haven been subject to standard procedure before production.

He explained that the side effects associated with the vaccine was not unusual since all drug, vaccines and treatment have its peculiar effects.

Speaking on the role of the media, Mrs Jaquelyne Adebija called on government and relevant stakeholders to assist in curbing fake news associated with the vaccine.

Other participants stressed the need to take the enlightenment to rural communities.
