The federal government has been urged to ensure total diversification of the economy to make things better for the common man.
Former Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, in the National Assembly ,Senator Rafiu Ibrahim made the call while featuring on the 30th edition of Media Parliament of the NUJ Kwara state Council held in Ilorin.
He said the monolitic economy presently being operated in the country is old fashion.
Senator Rafiu also advised that government should promote local production of items that are of high demand in the country to leverage on the existing available market .
According to him there is the need for the policy makers to reduce pressure on the naira by allowing market forces to determine it exchange rate to a dollar.
In his address the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists Kwara State Council,Comrade Lanre Ahmed advocated for the formulation of a robust economic policy to save the naira from further devaluation.
