International Peace Day: Let’s Set Nigeria On Path Of Progress – Asattahir Foundation

As the world marks 2021 International Peace Day on September 21, Nigerians have been tasked to make deliberate efforts at propelling the nation to greater heights, through embracing of peaceful coexistence.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman Asattahir International Foundation, Malam Aliyu Sidi Attahiru, made available to newsmen on Wednesday September 21, 2021.

“We have great potentials as a people and with our divinely designed destiny as a country, we can be propelled to greater heights by bonding together and practicing genuine brotherliness,” he said.

He explained that NIgeria as a country, is blessed by nature with abundant resources, which if we’ll harnessed by abundant human resources, will make the country an envy of others.

Attahiru tasked the leaders to rule with the fear of God at all times, while charging electorate to be law abiding and patriotic citizens.

“I understand that several challenges we are facing as a nation gains root from injustice and insensitivity to our religious, cultural and ethnic differences.

“We will definitely overcome, by using our unique diversity as a pool of strength for progress and upliftment,” he charged.

The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly.

Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the Day as a period of non-violence and cease-fire.

The United Nations based on that, invited all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during the Day, and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.
