Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara state Command has arrested a butcher over an alleged sale of contaminated cow meat to unsuspecting members of the public.
In a statement by the spokesman of the command, Babawale Afolabi and made available to newsmen, said the suspect was arrested in Patigi local Government area of the State.
According to the statement operatives of the command in Patigi divisional headquarters, who were acting on a tip off arrested one Nawali Bala a native of Okoloke, in Kogi State ,with contaminated cow meat neatly packed inside polythene bags.
The statement explained that during interrogation, Bala said the cow meat was given to him by one Dantani Jayewu now at large .
It noted that further checks by officials of the state ministry of environment confirmed that the cow meat was not safe for human consumption
The statement added that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigations are completed .
