Bandits have invaded Wababe community in Danger Shuni Local Government Area of Sokoto state.
The gunmen killed one person and abducted a councillor, Abubakar Muhammad alongside eight others in a midnight attack in the area.
Speaking with newsmen, the village head of the area, Muhammad Danhali explained that the bandits invaded the village at about eleven PM in the night and started shooting sporadically in the air to scare the residents and the neighbouring communities during the attack.
Confirming the incident, The eight Division Nigeria Army spokesman, Major Adamu Ngulde told Radio Nigeria that after receiving report the joined operatives, Operation Hadarin daji immediately mobilized the team to the area and engaged the bandits.
He noted that the bandits immediately retreated and fled with their captives.
