Niger State Establishes 527 Family Planning Centers

Niger state government has established five hundred and twenty seven Family Planning service centres across the state.

This is with a view to meet up with the current demand for it’s services.

Executive Director Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr Ahmed Dangana said this at the start of a three day workshop for Journalists organised by Pathfinder International in Minna.

Dr Ahmed Dangana explained that the demand for the service had increased especially during the Covid 19 lockdown which also necessitated the provision of additional centres.

According to him over the years the centres have increased from two hundred and twenty two to five hundred and twenty seven.

Dr Amed Dangana further explaned that educated people were the majority in seeking for such services leaving behind less educated behind.

Thus he said the need for massive enlightenment by media and Civil Society Organisations on Family Planning for maximum benefits.

Also speaking, State Assistant Coordinator Family Planning unit Ahmed Abdul lamented that about one hundred and twenty-three million women worldwide needed Family Planning but could not access the services.
