Cholera Kills Over One Hundred In Niger State

An outbreak of cholera disease has claimed the lives of about one hundred and fifty persons in Niger state.

Commissioner of Health Dr Mohammed Makusidi stated this in an interview with Journalists attending a workshop organsed by Pathfinder International in Minna.

Dr Mohammed Makunsidi said the cholera outbreak spread across the twenty five local government councils from April this year to date.

He however attributed open defecation and waste disposal as some of the causative agents for the outbreak of the disease.

Dr Mohammed Makunsidi stressed the need for individuals to always emphasise on preventive measures to contain the disease.

He advised those infected to seek for medical services from the public health services in their communities.

On Family Planning Dr Mohammed Makunsidi applauded Pathfinder International for the training of Journalists as well as some members of society which he said is key to achieving Universal Health Coverage in addition to providing technical support to Niger state.
