Nigeria, Russia Sign MOU On Security

Nigeria and Russian Government have signed a memorandum of understanding on the fight against banditry, insurgency, kidnapping and all other vices.

Minister of Defence, Retired Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi, stated this during a meeting with members of the House of Representatives committee on Defence.

Major General Bashir Magashi retired, was at the House of Representatives alongside the Commandant, Nigeria Defence Academy-NDA to brief the House on the Kaduna attack where an officer was killed another one abducted.

Breifing the House Commitee, the Commandant Nigeria Defence Academy, Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf, said efforts were in top gear to rescue the abducted officer and ensure such incident never occurs again.

Major General Yusuf, also confirmed that all the service chiefs have visited the institution to commiserate with the Academy community and gather more information on its operations as well as the incidence.

He however, assured the Committee that he is proceeding from the National Assembly to Owerri in Imo State for the burial of one of the officers who was killed in the incident.

Earlier, the Chairman House Committee on Defence, Mr Babajimi Benson, said the House was impressed with the report of the Commandant as well as measures being put in place to deter future occurrence.
