FG Committed To Environmental Protection – Ecological Fund Office

Federal Government is committed to addressing critical Ecological challenges across the country to forestall environment degradation.

The Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund Office, Dr Habiba Lawal stated this at the  taking and handing over of site for the execution of various erosion and flood control projects at Babaldu village in Birnin kudu local government area of Jigawa state.

The Permanent secretary who was  represented by Abubakar Suleiman Takuma said the meeting was aimed at building bridges of understanding between stakeholders and host communities with a view to resolving any issue  that may now or in the future hinder progress of work.

Dr Habiba Lawal further explained that, the forum will also enable contractors deliver timely, good and quality projects for the benefit of the communities.

She said, the projects were executed at Babaldu, Samammiya, Budinga in Birnin kudu local government area and Yayarin Tukur and Gofara in Buji local government area.

Also speaking, the member representing Birnin kudu buji federal constituency Engineer Magaji Da’u Aliyu commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the execution of the projects through the Ecological Fund office. 

He therefore urged people to continue to support and cooperate with the present administration as more projects are underway aimed at improving their living standard.

Radio Nigeria reports that there were goodwill messages from stakeholders who stressed the need for community participation in safeguarding the projects.

Similarly, the major feature of the event was the sensitization of the communities on the need to cooperate and support contractors to execute the project.

The Ecological Fund is an intervention set up by the federal government to address Ecological challenges in various communities across the country.
