COAS Charges Commanders On Effective Security

Chief Of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya has charged Commanders to strategies for effective security without excuse.

The Army chief has also directed for special operations to be conducted in the north-central and north-west of the country to address the deteriorating security lapses in the area.

He stated this in Abuja at the opening of the Chief of Army Staff, combined second and third quarter conference 2021.

The Conference aimed at reviewing security situations across the country and proffer workable strategy, as the first held by Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya as the chief of Army Staff.

General Yahaya who was emphatic that failure of security duties would no longer be accepted and as such all commanders should redouble their efforts in providing adequate security in their area of responsibility, however, observed that although there was logistics constraint in operations, he assured that there are concerted efforts to address the situation and improve the welfare of troops.

The Chief of Policy and Plans, Major General Anthony Omozoje, who coordinated the conference, spoke on the benefit of the conference to the security architecture of the country.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya also gave an award from the Chadian government to Major General Ibrahim Yusuf for his performance in addressing security challenges in the Lake Chad region.
