Borno State Begins Urbanization Of Nine LGAs

Borno state government has commenced the urbanisation of nine local government headquarters as part of the post insurgency recovery process.

Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum made this known during a townhall meeting on the 2022 budget process in Maiduguri.

Represented by his Chief of Staff Professor Isa Marte, the governor said the nine local governments were selected from the three senatorial zones to benefit this year.

According to Professor Zulum, the selected local governments would be provided with good roads, drainages, electricity and other social amenities to curb rural urban drift.

He explained that government will continue to accord priority in areas of education, healthcare, job creation, agriculture among other critical sectors.

“the discussion today will provide platform for people to voice their views, express their opinions on priority areas of the budget, this will fine tune the budget and make it peoples budget”

The state Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning Alhaji Adamu Lawan said the ministry has constituted a budget working group to ensure continuous involvement of citizens in the budgeting process.

He expressed hope that citizens needs aimed at improving their livelihood and welfare will be captured and incorporated into the 2022 budget.

Representatives of Civil Society Organisations, Organised Labour, Persons with Disability, Women and Youths groups at the meeting all lauded the state government for carrying citizens along in the entire budget process.
