Army Widows Shed Tears as NAOWA Distributes Palliatives

President of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, NAOWA, Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya has pleaded with the bereaved family of Army to accept the death of their spouses as will of God.

The NAOWA President who is the Wife of the Chief of Army Staff, made the plea, shortly after she performed a commissioning ceremony of the NAOWA Crech, Nursery and Primary School, One Brigade Garrison, Gusau.

Salamatu Yahaya who distributed food items, clothing materials and cash to the Widows said, the gesture was to support the bereaved families and called on them to be strong and accept the departure of their husbands in good faith.

Speaking amidst tears, the Chairperson, Nigerian Army Widows Association, Hajara Muhammad who couldn’t finish her remarks expressed gratitude to the President and NAOWA for remembering them with the gesture and prayed for the repose of their husbands.

Earlier, Mrs Salamatu Yahaya commissioned the Creche, Nursery and Primary School built by the former Chairperson of NAOWA 8 Division Chapter, Mrs. Fatima Aminu Bande whose the School blocks named after her, said the project would help in training children of the Army for the period of their stay in the Barracks.

Mrs Salamatu noted that, the School is open to neighbouring communities to enroll their wards to pursue education.

In an overview of the Project, Captain Nataya Yakubu, who supervised the project said it began on the 20th November, 2020 and completed within 3 months under the auspices of the former 8 Div NAOWA Chairperson, saying the Present President of the Association Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya provided furniture and equipments as well as the teaching aid for the take off of the School.
