Nigeria, Tunisia Committed To Benefitial Relationship- PMB

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the outgoing Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Jalel Trabelsi, as a man who deeply loves Nigeria.

Bidding him farewell, President Buhari said Ambassador Trabelsi’s friendliness prompted him to serve in Nigeria for ten years, at two different times.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, explains that Mr. Trabelsi first served in the past for five years as an officer, and came back later to serve as Ambassador for another five years.

The statement says President Buhari expresses gratitude to the outgoing Ambassador for identifying with Nigerians, and wishes him a success in his next assignment.

Ambassador Trabelsi had said he insisted on waiting till he had an audience with President Buhari before leaving, so he could personally express gratitude to a man he admired, and to a people he loved.

He said he enjoyed his ten-year stay in Nigeria, adding that Nigeria and Tunisia had excellent relations dating back in history, saying that the period of his assignment had further strengthened that bond.

He recalled that both countries had signed many agreements, organised business forum attended by 400 groups across sectors, and generally collaborated for mutual interest.

Ambassador Trabelsi gave assurance of his country’s perpetual support and intention to promote Nigeria.
