INEC Trains Personnels On Voters Registration Exercise

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has reaffirmed its determination in enlightening its staff and the public on the use of technology in the electoral process ,aimed at ensuring success in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

National Commissioner and Chairman information and Voters Education, Mr Festus Okoye stated this during the opening ceremony of a workshop for Heads of departments and Public Affairs officers of the Commission held in Kano.

Mr. Festus Okoye said the workshop was organized by the Commission to improve the knowledge of its personnel on the processes and the procedure of interfacing with the public, aimed at strengthening the electoral process.

” You can see that since the online voter registration exercise started ,so many new registrants have seize the opportunity to do their free registration,so many young person’s have commence their Registration,but we are pleading to those who have done the online pre registration to go to any of the registration centers of the Commission to complete their biometrics”

He maintained that any eligible voters who did the online pre- registration without completing the process by biometric capture renders process invalid.

The National Commissioner explained that a litigation and prosecution department has been established with the mandate to prosecute those engaged in double registration.

Earlier in a remark, The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kano Professor Rusqua Shehu described the workshop as timely and will help in achieving set objectives.

The workshop had participants from the nineteen northern states of the federation.
