Council Train Food Vendors On Healthy Practices

The Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria has scaled up capacity building programmes on healthy food processing and hygiene practices for food vendors to tackle cholera outbreak and the global Covid Nineteen Pandemic.

Registrar of the Council, Dr. Yakubu Baba Mohammed stated this in Kaduna at a capacity Building Workshop and the presentation of food processing materials to Small Scale Food Vendors organized by the council in partnership with the member representing Kaduna South Federal Constituency.

He said seventy percent of diseases are linked to food hence the capacity building for the vendors towards reducing incidences.

According to Dr. Baba Mohammed, basic hygiene practices are capable of killing covid nineteen virus and significantly reduce cholera cases starting from the vendors to their customers.

In a speech, the member representing Kaduna South Federal Constituency Mallam Mukhtar Ahmed Monrovia said the food processing materials donated was to enhance health practices among the food vendors

Mallam Monrovia who also appreciated the Environmental Health officers for the event, maintained that the constituency was shifting attention from infrastructural development to capacity building so as to empower the constituents and reduce diseases.

Some beneficiaries, Hajiya Saadatu Bello and Abubakar Abdullahi who applauded the gesture, said they have learnt so much that will improve their health condition.
