CAC Rolls Out New Forms For Business Registrations

The Registrar General, Alhaji Garba Abubakar

Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) says two new forms of business registrations provided by Companies and Allied Matters Act, (CAMA), 2020 will be available for Nigerians by the end of August, this year.

The Registrar General, Alhaji Garba Abubakar revealed this on friday while declaring open a Stakeholders forum in Port Harcourt.

Alhaji Garba Abubakar explained that the new forms of Business Registrations include Limited Partnership (LP) and Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) and were becoming increasingly desirable across various jurisdictions around the globe.

He said the commission was making arrangements to next year deploy a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to interact with Customers and resolve their challenges 24hrs a day.

According to him, all but two forms of Post incorporation filings are now available online 24 hours a day on the company registration portal.

Alhaji Garba Abubakar stressed that the Commission no longer entertain filing of Share transfer as it was alien to the law adding that information on Person with significant control (PSC) was available free of charge on the CAC website in line with global Anti Money Laundering requirement.

Addressing some customers concerns on the Commission’s denial of certain names for registration, the Registrar General noted that while some of such rejected names had security implications others were deceptive or abstract.

He therefore advised Customers to always approach the Commision with fully qualified names that equally agree with objects  of the association or organization applying for registration.

While acknowledging the challenges of some customers while interacting with the CRP, Alhaji Abubakar enjoined users to always read guidelines for registration made available on the website in addition to leveraging on the multimedia provided to aid user ability.

He therefore reiterated the Commision’s resolve to continually improve its processes and ensure timely resolution of Customer complaints.

Also speaking at the event, a former Board Member, CAC Governing Board, Okey Leo applauded the Commision’s reform initiatives and enjoined it to continue to hold more of such forums.
