ICT: Nasarawa State Commence Training Of About 300 Civil Servants


Nasarawa state government has commenced training of 270 civil servants on Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

State Head of Civil service Mr Nicolas Abari Aboki stated this during the flag off of the training in lafia the State Capital.

He said the state government in partnership with a Lagos based ICT firm, Technology for Social Change and Development Initiative (Tech4Dev) would train its workers for a period of 18 months.

Mr. Nicolas Abari Aboki explained that, the training was not for beginners, but for those who already had knowledge of using computers to make work easy for them.

Also speaking, the Director General Bureau for Information and Communication Technology (BICT), Malam Shehu Ibrahim said the training was to provide workers in the state with needed skills to make them more productive in their various offices.

According to him, the state government under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Sule was committed to providing digital skills through ICT programmes, as well as equipping its citizens with requisite knowledge to handle 21st Century  technologies.

Malam Shehu Ibrahim also commended the, Technology for Social Change and Development initiative (Tech4Dev) for their commitment to creating access to decent work, entrepreneurship opportunities and platforms for Africans through digital skills empowerment and advocacy.

The Director General called on participants to take the training seriously, in order to justify the state government’s efforts in improving their ICT skills.

Some participants who spoke with Radio Nigeria thanked the State government for the opportunity and promised to make good use of the gesture given to them.
