Update: Police Rescues 3 Staff Of Bakura College, Zamfara

Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkana leading Security Operatives in CAAS Bakura to Assess to attack

Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a Police officer 2 civilian guard, abduction of 15 Students and 4 Staff of College of Agriculture and Animal Science Bakura.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Muhammad Shehu, who said, the suspected bandits went to the school in large numbers but were confronted by the tactical Police Operatives who were alerted and responded to the scene on time.

The PPRO said, during the encounter, a Police Inspector and other civilian guards loss their lives while 15 students and 4 staff were abducted by the bandits.

SP Shehu noted that, during an extensive bush combing at the surrounding area by the Police, they rescue 3 Staff who will be debriefed and medically examine and later be reunited with their families.

Comissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkana who afterwards held an emergency meeting with School management in the Institution said the command in collaboration with other security agencies especially the military are employing various search and rescue strategies in order to ensure safe rescue of the abducted students and staff who are currently in captivity.

CP Elkana who went round the School and assessed the existing security arrangement said reinforcement will be provided against reoccurring of the attack.

On his part, Provost of the College commended the CP for resilience of the Police operatives who stand their ground despite the abduction.
