KNSG Affirms Commitment To End Drug Abuse And Other Vices

Kano State Government has reaffirmed it’s commitment towards eradicating drug abuse, street begging, child labour and molestation among others.

The Special Adviser to Kano State Governor on Non Governmental Organizations, Hajiya ‘Yardada Maikano stated this during a one-day seminar organized by an Orphans foundation to commemorate the new Islamic year, held in Kano.

According to her, the Kano state government had set modalities in place to ensure that all forms of societal vices becomes history.

The Special Adviser pointed out that a draft child protection bill has been sent to the Kano State House of Assembly to protect the rights of children against all forms of molestation in addition to the provision of free and compulsory education.

She described the seminar as timely and urged participants to make judicious use of the knowledge gained.

Earlier in her remarks, the convener of the program, Hajiya Maryam Kolo said the seminar was organized to educate and enlighten the general public about the dangers of street begging, hawking and child labour.

She noted that participants were also taught how to inculcate good moral values to young children due to high rate of immorality in the society.

The seminar themed: Parenting in the contemporary Muslim world, attracted academicians, students, Islamic scholars, journalists and the general public.
