Over 600,000 Pupils Enroll Into Home Grown School Feeding In Jigawa

Federal Government has enrolled over 600,000 primary school pupils into the home grown school feeding program in Jigawa state.

Minister Federal Ministry of humanitarian and disaster management Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk disclosed this during the flag off of the enumeration of pupils enrolled into school feeding program held at fagoji and Shuarin primary schools.

The Minister who was represented by the Assistant Director in the ministry Badayi Mukhtar explained that, the program organised to feed primary one to three classes with total number of 641,295 pupils emerged from 27 local government areas of Jigawa state. 

She further explained that, the enumeration exercise was aimed to have data captured of all benefiting pupils in 2,211 primary schools in the state. 

She pointed out, that about 5,024 cook vendors are engaged in the program. 

Hajiya Sadiya Farouk said federal government under the present administration introduced this program with to increase school attendance habit by children, reducing unemployment and to boost economy across the country. 

The Minister therefore assured more enrollment of pupils in the program and urged the cook vendoors to maintain high standard hygiene in the process of cooking the food against the spread of cholera in the state.
