South-East States Comply With IPOB Sit-At-Home Order

South-East, Nigeria

The sit-at-home order by IPOB has witnessed total compliance in some South-East states.

Recall that IPOB, through its Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, said human and vehicular movement would be restricted across the Biafran land every Monday, starting from today, 9th of August, 2021 until Nnamdi Kanu is released unconditionally from detention.

Radio Nigeria observed that in Awka metropolis, some people were seen going about their normal businesses, while major cities like Onitsha and Nnewi witnessed total compliance with the order.

The Onitsha and Nnewi markets were shut down while there were skeletal business activities at popular Aroma and Unizik junctions in the state.

Commercial banks are also shut down while few people were seen at the state secretariat when Radio Nigeria visited.

Some commercial vehicles and Keke operators were seen operating but with caution as some motor parks deserted.

Security agents are seen patrolling the state capital to ensure adequate security of lives and property.

Meanwhile, in Enugu, commercial activities came to standstill in the state capital as residents deserted the streets and roads in compliance with the sit-at-home order.
