Kebbi State To Sponsor Over 400 Medical, Engineering Students Overseas

In Kebbi State, over four hundred candidates sat for a computer based qualifying test to study medicine and related courses overseas to be sponsored by the State Government.

The State Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Mukhtar Umar Bunza, disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the ICT Center of Waziri Umaru Fedaral Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, one of the examination center in the state.

The Commissioner represented by the Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Halima Boyi Dikko, explained that , the state government was committed to improving the medical and para medical disciplines with the aim of taking the State to the next level of development.

Hajiya Halima Dikko said the Ministry had constituted a stakeholders selection committee headed by the Commissioner in collaboration with all the twenty one Local Government Council Chairmen in the State for distribution of forms to eligible indigenes of the state.

She however called on the successful candidates to show more commitment in their studies and be good ambassador of the state and country .

The Executive Secretary, Kebbi State Scholarship Board, Malam Sanusi Garba, said forms were distributed to the twenty one Local Government Areas of the State so as to have students from the grassroots across the state.

Malam Sanusi Garba appreciated the state government for giving the Ministry for Higher Education and the scholarship Board the mandate to conduct the screening exercise for oversea studies of medical, para medical and engineering courses.

Those candidates who spoke to newsmen, thanked the State Government for the opportunity given to them to sit for the qualifying examination to study abroad.
