Kano Assembly Orders Swearing In Of SA’s, Councillors, Others

Kano State House of Assembly has given four days ultimatum to the newly elected local government chairmen to swear in the newly appointed administrative secretaries, supervisory councillors and special advisers.

The ultimatum was given during plenary presided over by the speaker Engineer Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.

In a motion filed by member representing Karaye Alhaji Nasiru Abdullahi Dutsen Amare, who is also the chairman house committee on local governments and chieftancy affairs said the committee had recieved complaints that most of the administrative secretaries, supervisory councillors and special advisers were yet to be sworn in.

The house unanimously adopted the motion and called on the local government chairman to swear in all those affected from 3rd to 6th August 2021.

In a similar development, the house called on the Kano state government to complete the road construction from Dakata-Bela all in Ungoggo and Nasarrawa local government areas.

In a joint motion filed by members representing Ungoggo and Nasarrawa local government areas, Alhaji Aminu Sa’adu Ungoggo and Alhaji Umar Musa Gama who argued that the road construction started in the year 2007 and yet to be completed, Stressed that motorists were finding it difficult due to the dilapidated nature of the uncompleted road.

Meanwhile the Kano road Traffic agency (KAROTA) amendment law, 2012 had scaled 2nd reading

While presenting the motion the deputy speaker Alhaji Hamza Zubairu Massu pointed out that over 15 sections would be amended.

Contributing the house majority leader Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari said most of the sections contained in KAROTA law were outdated therefore there was urgent need to upgrade the law to compete with others globally.

The house mandated the committee on transport to scrutinize the law and submit it’s report within two weeks.
