Nigeria will on 1st of August receive 4million doses of Moderna Covid-19 vaccines.

The Executive Secretary, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, Dr Faisal Shuaib stated this in an interview in Abuja.

According to him, the Moderna Vaccines are very effective against the delta variant of the COVID-19 which has led many countries to the third wave of the pandemic.

He explained that the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19, three months ago proactively procured about 60 ultra cold chain units which has been in installed across the country to store the Vaccines.

He also hinted that Nigeria will get additional AstraZeneca Vaccines and the Johnson and Johnson Vaccines by September this year.

On the vaccination of persons under 18 years, the Executive Secretary of NPHCDA, noted that Nigeria’s data was yet to show that those under the stipulated age are affected by the delta variant, hence the focus on those that are 18 years and above.

He therefore urged those yet to receive the COVID-19 Vaccines to prepare to do so to protect them against the virus.
