Maintaining good enviromental sanitation has been described as a key factor to promoting good health among citizens.
Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Ibrahim stated this during the flag off of the NYSC National Enviromental Sanitation Exercise held in Kano.
Brigadier General Ibrahim, represented by the NYSC Coordinator in Kano Hajiya Aisha Tata Mohammad said enviromental sanitation was recognized globally as one of the essential requirements of preventing disease.
She said the aim of the campaign was to enlighten the populace, especially rural Dwellers on the health risk of poor hygiene with particular focus on the prevention of contamination of Water, food and the entire environment.
“During the Nationwide medical Outreach conducted under the NYSC Health initiative for rural dwellers it was observed that most of the ailments diagnosed and treated were as a result of poor Hygein,hence efforts needed to be put in place in addressing the menace of poor Enviromental Sanitation”
Hajiya Aisha Tata Mohammad maintained that NYSC will not relent in its efforts of offering health and other services to the people .
She appreciated Kano State Government, traditional rulers , community leaders and other stakeholders for supporting NYSC initiatives .
The exercise which was carried out all over the federation with the theme “Clean Environment /Good Hygiene- Panacea for Good Health and Long life ” was flagged off in Kano by a sanitation exercise at Fagge local Government Secretariat .
