The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Mohammed Shehu who disclosed this during a press briefing at the Command headquarters in Gusau, said the victims were rescued unconditionally and no ransom paid.

He explained that, the rescue was coordinated by the Police and Zamfara State government through the Ministry of Security and Home affairs.

While presenting eighty of the rescued persons, the PPRO noted that three of them could not attend the press briefing as they were receiving medical attention due to health challenges in the state.

According to him, the victims will be debriefed and be reunited with their respective families after medical examination.

Our reporter observed that the rescued victims were looking very weak and dirty while many of them were breast feeding their babies during the briefing.

Some of the victims who narrated their ordeal lamented horrific experience of hunger, thirst, threats and uncertainty, however gave thanks to Allah for regaining their freedom which they never expected.

The Police command called on residents to support security agencies with credible information about the criminal elements with a view to restoring normalcy in the state.
