Eid prayers was observed peacefully amidst restriction of vehicular movement in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

Thousands of muslim faithful converged on various eid grounds in the metropolis to observe the two unit prayers with virtually non-adherance to Covid-19 protocols.

At the Ramat Square eid ground, Imam Idaini of Borno, Shettima Mamman Saleh in his sermon shortly after the prayers, enjoined muslims to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice as exemplified by prophet Abraham.

He encouraged well spirited individuals and philanthropists to spend in charity and share with vulnerable people especially the IDPs during the festive period to give them a sense of belonging.

Imam Shettima Mamman praised God Almighty for witnessing another eid and called on Nigerians to live in peace with one another.

He offered special prayers for peace to reign in the state and the entire country.

The Imam Idaini then slaughtered his ram signifying that other muslim faithful can perform their sacrificial act.

The eid prayer had in attendance Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum, Senators Kashim Shettima, Ali Ndume and Abubakar Kyari, members of House of Representatives, Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba, Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi and other dignitaries.
