The Atyap Community in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State says they are still committed to the peace accord signed last year by its paramount ruler, the Agwa Tyap, Sir Dominic Yahaya despite consistent attacks metted to various commuties in the local government.

National President of the Atyap Community Development Association, Dr.Samuel Achie stated this while briefing newsmen on recent onslaught by alleged bandits in the area.

He said for the past two weeks, twelve communities have been sacked from their ancestral lands and are now taking refuge at Missionary Widows School within the local government.

According to Dr. Samuel Achie, forty people have been killed, over three hundred houses burnt while a number of people received bullets wounds and valuables lost to the attacks.

“Since last year, we have made frantic efforts to meet and discuss with the Hausa and the Fulani community to reach a compromise on how to live in peace with each other and are still on that course. We have always toured the path of peace not that we are cowards, but because it is what our parents bequeathed to us, by and large our religion taught us so. In spite of that, we have resolved to use all legal means inline with the constitution of the Federal Republic to defend ourselves”.

The National President therefore called on the Kaduna state Governor to fulfill its constitutional responsibility by putt an end to the killings and ensure that the perpetrators are fished out and face to justice.
