FG Committed To Technical Education Development – Minister

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment in uplifting the standard of education at all levels.

The Minister of Education Malam Adamu Adamu stated this during the 6th combined Convocation of the Federal College of Education Technical Bichi, held at Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.

Malam Adamu Adamu, represented by the Director Colleges of Education, Federal Ministry of Education Mrs Onyeake Nwabgwo said since the inception of the present administration, a policy has been made at ensuring that education occupies its place as a vital tool of transformation.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari was very passionate in according education the much needed attention geared towards developing the sector.

“In this Regard federal government recently approved additional six Colleges of Education representing six Geopolitical Zones of the country to bridge the gap in Teacher Education,which has now bring the total Number of FCE’s to 27 Nationwide”

Malam Adamu Adamu added that the Colleges of Education Technical sub sector play a vital role in the nation’s technological development being a major pillar of the economy.

In a remark, the Provost of the College Professor Bashir Muhammad-Fage, said 6,857 students graduated from the institution between 2016 and 2020.

He said the college awarded some students for their outstanding performance during the period under review while some prominent personalities would also be given awards for their immense contributions to the development of the college.

The Provost said some of the challenges facing the college include inadequate funding and decline in the number of students enrolled into the institution.

In a remark, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Represented by his Deputy, Dr Nasir Yusif Gawuna said education remains a priority of the present administration.

“We have made Basic Education free and compulsory in Kano, our administration is working tirelessly in uplifting the Standard of Education at all levels”

Award of Excellence were presented to some personalities in recognition of their contribution to the development of the College including the wife of the Governor of Kano State Professor Hafsat Ganduje, Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State and Senator Barau Jibrin among others.

The occasion was attended by many dignitaries including the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero.
