NYSC Takes Hygiene Campaign, Sanitation To Communities

The importance of sanitation and hygiene was the focus of a sensitization campaign week organised by the National Youth Service Corps NYSC nation wide aimed at enlightening the public.

In her address during the flag off exercise in Dutse, the Jigawa State Coordinator of the NYSC Hajiya Aishatu Adamu said the NYSC sensitization week in holding in all the 36 states of the federation and FCT.

The state coordinator who was represented by the Assistant Director, Corps Discipline and Reward, Yakubu Daniel  explained that the campaign is drawn from recently concluded health initiative for rural development were corps personnel provide medical outreach.

Hajiya Aishatu Adamu pointed out that  corps members as agents of sensitization and mobilisation are being utilised corps to enlighten the public.

According to her, the enlightenment campaign is to sensitize the general public on the dangers of poor sanitation and hygiene.

Aisha Adamu added that the sensitization which kicked off on Monday 12th July will last for a week and will be rounded up on Saturday 17th July.

Radio Nigeria reports that the members of the corps kicked off the sensitization from the NYSC state secretariat to Hakimi Street in Dutse the state capital. 

Members of the NYSC demonstrated the commitment as enshrined in their anthem of under the sun or in the rain as they marched in the rain to flag off the corps sensitization week.
