Emergency Response: UNFPA, PPFN Launches Text4life App In Kaduna

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in collaboration with Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN) has launched a Text4life app to report emergency cases of health related matters in Kaduna State.

The Text4life app is launched as a pilot scheme for Kaduna North and Chikun local government areas of the State

Representative of the Regional Coordinator, Programme Officer PPFN, Hajiya Amina Abdulraheem in her welcome address, said that it is a honour that PPFN is presenting the app in Kaduna and six other states.

She explained that the app was for recording and reporting emergency health cases.

Hajiya Amina AbdurRaheem was optimistic that the pilot project in the two LGAs would be replicated in the other 31 LGAs in the state.

“The project is actually 10 that UNFPA is implementing PPFN is privileged to have seven of the 10 States,” she said.

According to her, the other six states are Kano, Sokoto (North West), Gombe, Borno (North East), Ogun (South West) and FCT (North Central).

The app is for the people of the two local government areas to use during health emergency cases so that the nearest primary health care centers will respond on time.

The cases such as gender based violence, sexual reproductive health and family planning among others.

The app was developed and launched nationally in May 2021 by the United Nations Population Fund through Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria as the lead contracted Civil Society Organization.

The United Nations Population Fund is the sponsor of the project while the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria is the lead national civil society organization implementing the project in Kaduna North and the Chikun local government areas.
