Five Thousand Women And Youths Empowered In Borno

Borno state Deputy Governor Alhaji Umar Kadafur alongside Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, former Deputy Governor Ali Jatau presenting cheque to beneficiary of empowerment programme in Biu town, Borno state.

The Senator representing Southern Borno, Senator Muhammed Ali Ndume has empowered five thousand women and youths farmers and entrepreneurs of his constituency. 

Launching the programme in Biu town, Borno state Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur commended the Senator for initiating scheme aim at reducing poverty and restiveness in the state.

The Deputy governor expressed optimism that such humanitarian gesture would go a long way in the post insurgency recovery process.

He urged the beneficiaries to be passionate in putting the items into proper use and see it as an opportunity to improve their means of livelihood.

Senator representing Southern Borno, Mohammed Ndume said the beneficiaries were selected across the 9 local governments under the zone.

According to him, the era of political thuggery is over, stressing the need for youths to engage in farming activities and skill acquisition programmes to be self reliant.

The empowerment programmes which is in six categories, comprised of one thousand women ,one thousand students, one thousand small scale businessmen, one thousand from young farmers and one thousand women entrepreneurs where each person is given a token amount of ten thousand naira.  

The Senator also presented 5 trucks of fertilisers and 2 trucks of maize improved seeds improve variety to young farmers. 

In their separate goodwill messages the representatives of Emir’s of Biu and Shani commended senator Ali Ndume for the empowerment scheme and the beneficiaries to make good use of the items.
