KSHA Charges Newly Elected Chairmen on Accountability And Professionalism

Local government council chairmen have been charged to abide by rule of law and show professionalism in discharging their duties to achieve the desired objectives.

The member representing Karaye local government area at the Kano State Assembly and Chairman House Committee on Local Government Areas, Alhaji Nasiru Ahmed Karaye Dutsen Amare made the call during a working visit to four local government areas to enlighten the newly elected local government chairmen, secretaries, deputies and councillors on their roles and responsibilities.

He explained that cordial working relationship is of paramount importance in democratic setting which will ensure mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence especially at local level.

The member urged the chairmen to ensure transparency and accountability and desist from acts capable of tarnishing their image.

In their separate remarks, the chairmen of Bagwai, Shanono, Gwarzo and Kabo local government areas promised to work tirelessly in discharging their duties.

They called on government and relevant stakeholders to ensure training and retraining of personnel which will go a long way in uplifting the standard of living and promote ethical upbringing.

The local government chairmen commended the House Committee on Local Government for the visit and reiterated their commitment in ensuring security of lives and properties, quality healthcare delivery, provision of free and compulsory education among others.

Local governments visited include Bagwai, Shanono, Gwarzo and Kabo.
