Bandits Kill Zamfara Assembly Member, Kidnap Son And Driver

A member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly representing Shinkafi local government area, Alhaji Muhammad G. Ahmed has been killed by armed bandits in the State.

Sources from the family said, Muhammad G. Ahmed was ambushed along Sheme – Funtua road, kidnapped his son and the driver.

The lawmaker was said to be traveling to Kano for registration of his son who secured admission in one of the institutions.

Radio Nigeria gathered that Alhaji Muhammad G. Ahmed until his death is the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriations and was the long-serving lawmaker in the Assembly.

The deceased also served as a local government secretary and was a lecturer at the College of Education in Sokoto State before joining politics in 1999.

Confirming his death, the clerk of the House, Alhaji Shehu Saidu Anka said the deceased was shot by armed bandits along Sheme-Funtua road in Katsina State.

He has since been buried according to Islamic rights.
